Simplified Chinese Pokémon cards officially entered the market in 2022, marking a significant milestone for Pokémon fans in mainland China. Published by The Pokémon Company, headquartered in Shanghai as its official Chinese subsidiary, these cards were designed to cater specifically to the Chinese-speaking audience, with all text translated into Simplified Chinese and localized for the region. 
 
What Makes Simplified Chinese Cards Unique?
 
1. Language and Localization:
– The cards feature the Simplified Chinese script, making them distinct from their Traditional Chinese counterparts used in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
– Releases come in different names and sets compared to the international environment.
 
2. Availability and Exclusivity:

– Competitive Play: Simplified Chinese cards are not currently allowed in international tournaments, such as the Pokémon World Championships. However, once the environment catches up to the International environment, they will be permitted to enter tournaments.
– Set Releases: With the release of Eternal Beginnings on January 17, 2025, Simplified Chinese will officially enter the Scarlet Violet environment.
